Kerala Blasters FC

Preview: MCFC vs KBFC | AIFF Super Cup | 2025/26

The Blasters head into their final Group D fixture of the AIFF Super Cup, having recorded back-to-back victories in Goa. Following a 1–0 win over Rajasthan United and a commanding 3–0 triumph against Sporting Club Delhi, David Catala’s side have found rhythm, balance, and belief — qualities they’ll look to carry into Sunday’s clash against Mumbai City FC.

The Blasters’ most recent outing showcased their attacking fluency and creative spark. A first-half brace from Koldo Obieta and a moment of sheer brilliance from Korou Singh, who produced a stunning bicycle kick, sealed a comprehensive win at the GMC Athletic Stadium.

Captain Adrian Luna once again orchestrated play with authority, while Noah Sadaoui and Nihal Sudeesh provided dynamism in the final third. At the back, Juan Rodriguez and Bikash Yumnam anchored a defensive unit that has yet to concede in the competition.

Opponents Mumbai City FC, led by Petr Kratky, present a formidable challenge. Despite their strong start with a 4–1 win over Sporting Club Delhi, they are a side built on tactical control and quick attacking transitions. With a preferred 4-4-2 formation, Mumbai possess both structure and speed — particularly in wide areas.

Veteran striker Jorge Diaz remains a constant threat with his aggressive movement inside the box, while Jorge Ortiz offers creativity and fluidity between the lines. Youngster Vikram Pratap adds relentless energy and well-timed runs behind the defence, making him one to watch. In midfield, Jon Toral and Lalnunliana dictate rhythm through short passing and switches, supported by the composure of Tiri.

For the Blasters, this fixture represents not only a test of their progress but also an opportunity to cement their place at the top of Group D. With six points from two matches, Catala’s men have shown a blend of tactical maturity and expressive football — and they will look to sustain that momentum.
