Kerala Blasters secured a 3-2 win against Odisha FC in Kochi, earning three important points to strengthen their contention for the playoffs.
First Half: Odisha Strike Early
The game started on a low note for the home side as Odisha took an early lead in the 4th minute. Jerry Mawihmingthanga capitalized on a defensive lapse, a header from Dorielton past Sachin Suresh. Despite controlling possession and creating several opportunities, the Blasters couldn’t find a way past Odisha’s resolute defense. The first half ended with Odisha holding onto their slender 1-0 advantage.
Second Half: A Remarkable Comeback
The second half saw a rejuvenated Blasters, and the equalizer came in the 60th minute. Kwame Peprah skipped past Odisha goalkeeper Amrinder Singh to slot the ball into the net with finesse.
The Blasters took the lead in the 73rd minute through the impactful substitution of Jimenez. Adrian Luna’s cross found Noah Sadaoui, who headed it into the path of Jesus Jimenez. The forward stretched out infront of the goal to guide the ball into the net with relative ease, registering another goal this ISL season in his first game back from an injury layoff.
Odisha responded in the 80th minute. Dorielton scored from close range after Sachin Suresh parried a shot from Saviour Gama into his path.
With Odisha down to 10 men, the Blasters pushed forward relentlessly. In the dying moments of the match (90+5’), Noah Sadaoui’s shot deflected off Rahim Ali’s extended leg, looping over Amrinder Singh and into the net. The goal sent the stadium into celebration as the Blasters completed their dramatic victory in their first fixture at home in 2025.
