Chennai, 31st October 2026: Kerala Blasters FC settled for a goalless draw against Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, in their fourth match of the MG Indian Super League 2026–27 season. Despite coming close to finding the breakthrough on multiple occasions, their struggles in the final third proved costly as the Blasters had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Evenly Contested Opening Half
The game kicked off with the Blasters getting the first touch, and an early attacking surge from Korou forced Namgyal Bhutia into a tactical foul, earning the Chennaiyin defender an early yellow card. Following an evenly contested opening period, the Blasters carved out their first real opportunity in the 27th minute when Adrian Luna and Andre Green combined in the final third to release Sanan. However, his attempted cross was blocked by a Chennaiyin defender.
Meanwhile, Chennaiyin threatened to breach the Blasters’ defence through Madih Talal and Irfan Yadwad, but Amrinder Singh looked sharp between the posts to keep the hosts at bay. Aiban Dohling also played a crucial role in keeping the defensive line organised, making key interceptions whenever Chennaiyin threatened with long balls. The hosts continued to trouble the Blasters with their intense pressing, dictating the tempo for much of the remainder of the first half. However, the visitors remained composed and dealt with the attacking pressure effectively.
Second-Half Drama and Stalemate
The Blasters made a change at the break, bringing on Sumit Sharma in place of Hormipam. Andre Green enjoyed promising spells of momentum, helping the visitors begin the second half with greater attacking intent and control. One such attacking move earned the Blasters a penalty, but Adrian Luna was unable to convert from the spot. The Blasters continued to dictate proceedings, with Andre Green coming close to finding the net, only to be denied by Nawaz.
As the game progressed, both teams continued to create attacking opportunities, but neither could find the finishing touch in the final third. Just as the game was heading towards a draw, an off-the-ball foul by Emmanuel triggered a reaction from Andre Green, resulting in both players receiving red cards. The match eventually ended in a goalless stalemate, with both sides sharing the points.
