ArticlesThe RewindMatch Report KBFC v Indian Navy

October 13, 2021by KBFC Media

Kerala Blasters defeated MA Football Academy (3-0) by 3 goals courtesy of Jorge Diaz, Marko Leskovic, and Alvaro Vazquez. Thus KBFC ends their preseason camp in Kochi in a dashing way and will go off to Goa for the next phase of the preseason and the coming edition of ISL.

Coach Vukamanovic fielded a comparatively young Blasters side as Luna and Diaz were the only foreigners who secured their spots in the first eleven. The team was led by Rahul KP who played more as a right midfielder throughout the game. Sachin was given chance in goal and justified the coach’s choice with his performance.

Blasters started to attack from the first minute itself and a very near chance to score appeared within one minute. Vincy’s forward pass was picked up by Rahul from the right-wing who delivered an inch-perfect cross to the box which found Diaz but his shot went wide by an inch or so. The men in yellow continued to attack through both wings and scored by the 15th minute. An exquisite corner-kick from Adrian Luna was headed into the net by our Argentine forward Jorge Diaz who founded his first goal in yellow. Gaining confidence from the goal, Blasters pursued attacks and almost found the net after 20 minutes as Rahul KP and Sreekuttan amped up with their firepower but their shots were saved by the goalkeeper. Sreekuttan came in for Seityasen Singh who got injured and was unable to continue in the match. The first half ended in favor of KBFC.

The second half started with substitutions from our side as Leskovic, Chencho, Prasanth, Alvaro, Ayush, Hakku and Sandeep entered the game. Leskovic stood tall in the defense as MA Football Academy started to find the rhythm. Alvaro along with Chencho created a dynamic duo in the front line and possessed constant threat to them, but was not accurate with the shots. Their goalkeeper also stood like a wall, but we broke it for the second time through another set piece. Ayush’s corner-kicked was so precise for Leskovic who scored the second goal through a powerful flicking header. Within 5 minutes Alvaro completed the scoreline as he picked up Chencho’s parallel pass and finished it to the open net without any mistake. Even after taking the lead Blasters’ didn’t give up and were very close to score the 4th goal. Sanjiv Stalin came up with a dipping cross from the left-wing and Prasanth delivered a forceful volley, but the keeper was equal to it. MA Football Academy team tried to create goals but were brilliantly kept out by Sachin and our defense line. Last-minute of the game saw a promising attack from them, as Nidhin Madhu carried the ball through our penalty box but was denied by Abdul Hakku. Match ended after 1-minute additional time and it turned out to be a good day for Blasters.
