MATCH PREVIEW – KERALA BLASTERS vs MUMBAI CITY FC

TEAM NEWS

Its match number 62 in ISL season 8, and how better it can be when it’s a ‘Streak VS Streak’ match. KERALA BLASTERS will be looking to continue the defeat-less streak, while MUMBAI CITY FC will be aiming to put an end to their winless streak.

The Islanders were at the top of the points table when they were defeated by Kerala Blasters at Fatorda on 19th Dec 2021. Desmond Buckingham’s have failed to register a win ever since. Reigning champions will be aiming to put an end to their 5-game winless streak.

On other hand, ‘MEN IN YELLOW’ who have not been defeated in their last 10 games will be looking forward to continuing their ‘INVINCIBLE’ run. Coach Ivan Vukomanovic has molded the blasters to a question which opponents are finding tough to find an answer to. Being a team that is known for their high pressing game, Blasters have also managed to restrict opponents from scoring even a single goal in 5 matches. It will be interesting to see how Kerala Blasters will keep the streak continuing.

HEAD TO HEAD

Overall, in the Indian super league, MUMBAI CITY FC oversee the fixture with Six victories out of the 15 times we met. Six games saw both teams sharing points and Kerala Blasters secured wins in the remaining three encounters.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT.

Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Aridan luna, Alvaro Vazquez and Sahal Abdul Samad, ‘The JAAS quartet’ of Kerala blasters have evolved to a nightmare for the opponents. Not only causing trouble in the opponent half, these players are also demonstrating their skill in intercepting opponent counter-attacks in the initial stage itself.

With the performance, Puitea and Jeakson Singh have already answered the critics. With Kerala Blasters Custodian Prabhsukhan Singh Gill being the front runner for the Golden Glove and 5 clean sheets so far, there is no question on the defensive unit. Nishu Kumar and Harmanjot Singh Khabra being the goal scorers from the last match, MUMBAI CITY FC will be finding it tough to identify the player who is going to score against them.
