TEAM NEWS

After postponing the last 2 matches due to unexpected COVID reporting inside the bio bubble, KERALA BLASTERS are all set to return to action in Hero ISL 2021-22. For a team that proved many critics wrong with their performance on the field, for a team who were the table toppers before they took a break from the field, a high-octane match is what we can ask for. And, what else could be better than THE SOUTH INDIAN DERBY itself.

KERALA BLASTERS will lock horns with BENGALURU FC on our return to the field after a break. The south Indian derby is going to be special in many ways this time. Two teams proved the critics wrong ( in a positive way ) with their performance this year. After a poor performance in the initial stages of the tournament, Marco Pezzaiuoli’s MEN IN BLUE have retained their rhythm and is unbeaten in the last 7 games. Trashing the reigning champions Mumbai City FC 3 – 0 and title contenders Chennaiyin FC for 4-2 and 3 – 0 have got them back to the race. The return of the Club Legend and captain Sunil Chhetri to the squad after a short break is also positively impacting the team.

On other hand, MEN IN YELLOW have toppled the predictions of many critics and was the table-toppers before they took a break. The blistering run made by KERALA BLASTERS this season made many feels like coach Ivan Vukomanovic released a beast out of the box. From a team who were trashed for a 4-2 defeat by ATK Mohun Bagan on their first match, Blasters have only conceded 4 goals after that. Remaining undefeated after the first match, KERALA BLASTERS turned out to be the JUGGERNAUTS of this season.

Will Blasters be able to continue their form and continue the race from where they left? Will Bengaluru FC be able to continue their unbeaten run and secure 3 points against their south Indian rivals? We will get the questions answered in the STEAK vs STREAK match this Sunday.

HEAD TO HEAD

Overall, in the Indian super league, BENGALURU FC oversee the fixture with 5 victories out of the 9 times we met. 2 games saw both teams sharing points and Kerala Blasters secured wins in the remaining 2 encounters.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT.

Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Adrian luna, Alvaro Vazquez and Sahal Abdul Samad, ‘The JAAS quartet’ of Kerala blasters have evolved into a nightmare for the opponents. Not only causing trouble in the opponent half, but these players are also demonstrating their skill in intercepting opponent counter-attacks in the initial stage itself.

With the performance, Puitea and Jeakson Singh have already answered the critics on the question ‘Why Kerala blasters did not recruit a foreign Defensive Midfielder for this season?’

With Kerala Blasters Custodian Prabhsukhan Singh Gill being the front runner for the Golden Glove and 5 clean sheets so far, there is no question on the defensive unit.

Nishu Kumar and Harmanjot Singh Khabra being the goal scorers from the last match, BENGALURU FC will find it tough to identify the player who is going to score against them.
