A GREAT START, BUT NOT THE RESULT WE WANTED

In the second encounter of the Hero ISL, we came across Northeast United FC at the GMC Stadium, Bambolim today. The Men-in-Yellow played with a great positive attitude throughout the 90 minutes but a late equalizer from Idrissa Sylla for the highlanders ruined the chance for us to grab the 3 points.

The world was shaken by the unexpected demise of footballing legend Diego Maradona. Both teams paid homage to the passing of the footballing great by wearing a black band on the sleeves throughout the match. A minute of silence was observed prior to the start of the match.

Kibu fielded the team in a 4-3-3 formation and our boys kicked-off the match in style, giving us a dream start. A well placed header into the top corner by our Captain, Sergio Cidoncha in the 5th minute opened the scoresheet for us. The Blasters showed good intent as they scored another goal in the form of a penalty by Gary Hooper in the 44th minute which was received for a deliberate tackle against Lalthathanga Khawlhring by Rakesh Pradhan inside the box. The first half ended 2-0 in favour for us.

The second half started with Albino Gomes being the busiest of the two goalkeepers as he worked hard to preserve our 2-0 advantage for the majority of the game, but unluckily a goal each from Kwesi Appiah and Idrissa Sylla for the Highlanders in the 50th & 90th minute equalized the game at stoppage time. Our boys showcased a brilliant display throughout the match. An eye worthy performance from the young midfielder Lalthathanga Khawlhring today as he produced some artistry of his own to team up with Seityasen Singh and Cido today.

By our philosophy, we are not a team who gets carried away by results, we go forward step by step analyzing our positives and negatives as far as we can. Men-in-Yellow will face our arch rivals Chennaiyin FC this Sunday on the 29th of November. We are the Blasters and we shall never surrender.
