36', 84' VALSKIS
79', 82' MURRAY
The Mentality Monsters

Geared up in our third kit today, our boys locked horns with the Red Miners, Jamshedpur FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in a crucial game.

In a must-win match, our Boss Kibu Vicuña fielded our boys in 4-4-1-1 formation fielding Gary Hooper and Jordan Murray upfront. Our Goan Left-back Jessel Carneiro captained the Men-in-Yellow today. The first half began with the boys pressing the Red Miner’s backline causing much trouble to the opposition defenders. Quite unfortunately, a golden opportunity in the 11th minute was missed by our Aussie striker Jordan Murray. Our Englishmen Gary Hooper who played behind Murray missed a chance to score a cutback pass from the right flank by Murray in the 15th minute. As the result of the high pressing, our Zimbabwean Warrior Costa headed in from close range in the 21st minute from a beautifully taken free-kick by Facundo Pereyra.

As the game progressed, Lalruatthara got booked with a yellow card for tackling Stephen Eze from behind giving Jamshedpur a free kick in a dangerous position. The Red Miners opened their account with a direct freekick goal from their Lithuanian striker Nerijus Valskis. Jamshedpur FC keeper Rehenesh showcased a brilliant display as he stopped a goal-bound header by Jordan in the extra minutes of the first half.

The second half kicked-off with the referee busy pulling out cards. The vigilant referee was not in a mood to listen to the arguments as he handed a yellow card to our Head Coach Kibu Vicuña. In the 66th minute of the game, Lalruatthara got booked the second time for committing a foul against Jakichand Singh in the center circle. The red card shown led him out of the pitch and brought us down to 10 men on the pitch.

With just 10 men, our boys showcased the much-needed game spirit, Jordan scored from close range before taking advantage of a terrible goalkeeping error from T. P Rehenesh. With that brace from Murray, a two-goal cushion made us all dream of that 3 points.

However, Nerijus Valskis’ goal in the 83rd minute again opened the game making us work hard to see to the end of the game. But that wasn’t enough to alter the results as our boys finished off the match in style taking all the three points home.

Gaining confidence from today’s win and fixing our weak points, we take the roads to Tilak Maidan once again to clash against the Red and Gold SC Bengal this Friday, 15th January.

Keep backing us, our 12th Man
Yennum Yellow!
