GAME REPORT

THE GREAT SOUTH INDIAN DERBY CLASH
It was yet another frustrating night for the Blasters at Bambolim after claiming a 0-0 goalless draw against Chennaiyin FC in the first South Indian Derby of this season.
Head Coach Kibu Vicuna stuck to his traditional 4-3-3 formation including 3 changes in the line-up that fielded Denechandra, Nongdamba & Facundo to the starting XI. Our boys honoured the front line heroes by wearing the 3rd kit which was designed in cachet for them.
The first part of the game kept both teams at edges with some unpredictable moves from both sides. The 16th minute witnessed a classy interception from Bakary Kone where he blocked the Chennaiyin playmaker Crivellaro from making a shot in a challenging 1-on-1 situation in front of a gaping empty net. The game also witnessed the rise of our young midfielder Rohit Kumar with some decent performances along with a powerful on target long ranger onto the post. The lad seems to be stepping up to the expectations of our boss and is surely going to make a mark of his own, analysing his current set of performances.
Kibu made a tactical change in the playing XI by substituting Seityasen Singh with Rahul K. P to further add firepower to the wings.
Our custodian Albino Gomes looked more confident under the bars making a fabulous freekick save at the 67th minute, taken by the Chennaiyin star midfielder Rafael Crivellaro from a dangerous spot just outside the box. But the best was still yet to come, saving a penalty conceded by Cido against Crivellaro inside the box at the 74th minute of the game. The penalty shot was taken by Jacob Sylvester towards the right bottom corner of the net and was brilliantly saved by a fully outstretched sweep from Albino that made him the rightful owner of the Hero of the Match award.
Apart from conceding a penalty, our captain Cidoncha excelled in all formats of the game. He also tops the list in the top passes of the game and hence proved to be an instrumental engine in our midfield. But quite unfortunately, a rough tackle against him by Enes Sipovic at the 88th minute forced him to leave the ground on a stretcher. Our boys played the remaining minutes of the game with 10 men on the pitch until the referee blew the whistle at full time leading to a goalless draw for both the teams.
As long as there are games to play, it is not over yet and Kibu is not a person who plays for draws. We promise to come back stronger and powerful in our next game at the Fatorda against FC Goa on 6th December.
Until then keep backing our Yellow!
