Kerala Blasters FC head coach Ishfaq Ahmed and captain Jessel Carneiro addressed the media in an online press conference ahead of our final game this season in the Indian Super League. Blasters will be locking horns with North East United today at the Tilak Maidan Stadium. Here’s what Ishfaq and Jessel had to say about the match.
On being asked about the game against Highlanders, Ishfaq said, “I think the matches at this level are similar for everyone. For us, we definitely want to win and they also want to win, they have extra pressure also which is true. I know that they have to get a good result or a draw to seal the top 4 spot. But for us, it’s another opportunity to sign off from the season on a high note. We are not thinking about them and what they have to do, I’m sure their coach is experienced and they will be knowing what to do. We have injuries to deal with and everything else that all the other camps have. We will be concentrating on our squad and our strength and of course their weaknesses.”
Ishfaq shared his thoughts on Jessel. “Jessel is a ball playing left full-back. He likes to get involved in playmaking and I have given him complete freedom for that and that’s why he has been quite good in the last match. I’m happy for him and he is doing good. He is a very important and integral part of the team.”
Jessel spoke about this season. “I would say we worked very hard the whole season. Unfortunately, the results did not go our way and the season will be ending now. But we will continue to improve and give our best in the next season.”
