January 31, 2021by KBFC Media

Kerala Blasters FC Head Coach Kibu Vicuna and captain Jessel Carneiro attended the pre-match press conference ahead of our league match against ATK Mohun Bagan. Kibu and Jessel talked about the game against Jamshedpur, injuries and much more.

Kibu on facing Atk Mohun Bagan for the second time this season.”We had the possession of the game, we even controlled the match and yes one accidental mistake between Sergio Cidoncha and Vicente, the ball went to Krishna. He scored it very well because he is a very good striker. It was a question of whether they where better than us. It’s true that they created too many chances but I think we played a good match and now the circumstances are different, ATK is the former champion, they are in the second position, they have fantastic players, good team, coach so it’s going to be a very hard challenge for us.”

Kibu on Facundo’s injury. “With the injuries, we have to go step by step he had the operation yesterday and now he has two weeks recovery and then we will see. He is going to be ready as soon as possible but we cannot say anything at this moment because we don’t know. We have to see the evolution of the fracture. Because two-three weeks is two games more. We will see.”

Kibu on the game against Jamshedpur FC. “I think the team, especially after 25 minutes, I think we where the better team on the pitch. We created chances, enough to win the match. We didn’t score, we did score but they didn’t give us the goal. We have the sensation that we lost two points because we were better, even in the second half also we created chances. We had the ball, we created chances, but unfortunately we were not able to score the goal and get the three points.
We have more positives and in my opinion we deserved to win, more than the first game against Jamshedpur but this is football. The good thing is that we are in a good mood and I think we just have to get the three points.”

Jessel shared his thoughts on last year’s team and this years team. “I see all the players are giving their best this season. Compared to last season, they are the same every day all are working hard and I don’t see any comparison. We are working very hard every day to be in the top four.”

Jessel talked about our position in the point’s table. “The last game against Jamshedpur, we were unlucky but in the table, we are lucky. The table has not moved much and we are still in the same position and we definitely have good chance to qualify. It’s upto us to give our best and to get all the points to be in the top four.”

Kibu on being out from the sideline. “The experience was different. It was different because for me it’s difficult to be seated everytime, the whole match I didn’t say anything, but I knew what I had to do. I had full confidence in the caching staff. We deserved to win, we played well. The Important thing is that we stuck to our plan, the attitude of the players were also very good.”

Kibu talked about the tight January fixture. “Its very hard, because tommorow we are going to play our eighth game in 30-31 days. Sometimes there is not enough time for recovery and it’s difficult to prepare for the matches because of not having enough time. Every team has similar schedule. For us, we played four games in December and we are going to play our eight this month and it’s different but I think the team is improving, growing up, I think we have more confidence and we are competing very well against every team. Now we have very tough games against the best teams in the competition right now. Of course we have to give our best if you want to succeed in these two matches, especially tomorrow against the defending champions.”
