Club statement on the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi

by Admin on Mar 22, 2018
In relation to the proposal of scheduling an international cricket game at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in November, we would like to inform our fans that we have made a representation to the GCDA stating our concerns about the impact on the ground and thereby to the KBFC games in ISL.

We believe that the interests of both sports fans in Kerala can be best met by the cricket game being held in Trivandrum and the ISL games continuing as earlier scheduled in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.

ISL started in the year 2014 and more than 30 matches have been played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The venue was also proud hosts of the ISL finals in 2016. From a football perspective, the pitch and the stadium facilities have been further refurbished on account of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017.

The GCDA chairman has assured us that he has duly noted our representation and will look into the matter.
